Those not having an EU nationality, may stay in Cyprus as visitors, for more than three months, if they apply beforehand  for such a permit by the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Republic of Cyprus. 

 

The applicant may apply provided that they fall within any of the below case scenarios:

 

• They do not have EU nationality, but they are married to an EU or a Cypriot citizen and are willing to live in the Republic;

• They do not have EU nationality, but they are a parent in law of a Cyprus/EU citizen living in the Republic, and are willing to live in the Republic in order to later on apply for family reunification; 

• They are a child (younger than the age of 18) of a parent who does not have EU nationality, but their parent is married to an EU/Cypriot citizen that live in the Republic, and intend to live in the Republic in order to later on apply for family reunification; 

• The applicant does not have EU nationality, but they wish to carry on living in the Republic of Cyprus for more than three months (may involve an extension of visa permit), provided that the applicant receives sufficient income from abroad that would essentially cover all living expenses; 

 

It is important to note that in the event the applicant has acquired a visitor's VISA from any Cyprus embassy or consular that is located abroad, which would essentially entitle the said VISA holder a three month maximum stay in the Republic, the said holder may apply for an extension of another three months, unless if the VISA in possession indicates the term 'FINAL' whereas in such a case it cannot be extended by the Migration Department but by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instead.

 

Any extension to a VISA containing the indication 'FINAL' made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, can be done only under special circumstances of the holder.
